Description
A window opened onto a whale's tail, a woman seen from behind as in Friedrich, the geometry of the room as a cage of waiting. In a warm brown wood-panelled interior a woman in a blue dress stands with her back to the viewer; she gazes toward a small window through which a whale's tail rises from a navy sea; above hangs a larger painting magnifying the same scene.
