Description
Vermeer's geographer in a female incarnation, a blood-red dress and a hand alive over the map of the world, hair stirred by an inner wind. In the side light of a window stands a red-haired woman in a red silk dress, leaning over a sheet of a map spread on a rumpled carpet; beside her an oak cabinet with a globe, a framed picture on the wall, and, like an abandoned accent, a red sphere-planet floats.
